Travel Diary #06
By Sergio Camalich
Every two weeks I’ll be publishing little excerpts from my travel diary to show a little bit more of what I live every day. These are taken from November 16 through 30.
November

16
Standing on top of an ancient Mayan Pyramid, surrounded by monkeys, bats, fireflies, an ocean of trees and the Milky Way on top of my head. I will never forget this day.
17
I love being able to bring my ideas to reality.
18
Mandatory resting day after 5 days of walking almost 30kms daily.
19
Today’s camping spot: Next to a river. Bringing my tent has been a great idea.
20
The Kan Ba caves, in Semuc Champey, have been amazing, if only a little bit short.
21
Antigua Guatemala—How beautiful is the feeling of arriving into a new devilishly gorgeous city.
22
Saw my first volcanic eruption today. What a rush!
23
I’ve been noticing that when I don’t know someone, I could spend a whole day without talking. I should work on that.
24
Yep. Not every day has to be perfect, and that’s ok.

25
Today I roasted marshmallows and sausages inside volcanic rock. Things are looking brighter!
26
I’ve forgotten the number of times I’ve said I’m not drinking again…
27
Lost my dorm keys. Had to jump in through an open window. Nobody noticed. SUCCESS!
28
Nothing sadder than missing the hostel’s breakfast because you overslept.
29
Rule of the traveler #01: Following your instincts is the best you can do.
30
San Pedro is gonna kill me if we keep partying here. I need to sleep!
